Bananas are a low glycemic index food (this is a good thing), they are full of vitamin B6, manganese, vitamin C, fiber, potassium, biotin and copper. The potassium means that they help lower your blood pressure and keep your blood cholesterol levels down. And, they are good for your digestion as well, they even help maintain the good bacteria in your lower intestine I love that I can eat bananas instead of drinking a highly processed sports drink and get many of the same benefits.
Bananas are a very fragile fruit. They should not be refrigerated or subject to high temperatures. You can, however, freeze them and they will keep for about two months. Pepper loves frozen banana slices!

By the way, if you have a latex allergy, there are a number of fruits including bananas to which you may also be allergic (the latex-fruit allergy syndrome).
